How You Can Help

    You could volunteer....

The Elgar Birthplace Museum has approximately 40 Front of House Volunteers, who work one or two mornings or afternoons a fortnight to support the exisiting staff. Each volunteer is given a personal introduction to the Museum and then receives a Volunteer Pack to help them with their duties.

The generosity and enthusiasm of our volunteers ensures that we can remain open to the public seven days a week and that we offer a high quality service for all our visitors.  If you live nearby, and could offer at least 3 hours a fortnight to help in welcoming visitors, staffing the shop, helping with special events or working behind the scenes, please get in touch.

You could make a donation to the Museum....

This internationally renowned collection always needs financial support. Your donation could help to purchase something new for the collection as items come onto the market; to look after and conserve the Birthplace Cottage and items already in the collection; to support the work of looking after, documenting and making available this precious resource to researchers and to visitors; to enable us to expand our educational activities and events programme; and to improve the facilities and services we offer.

In 2011 we launched The Elgar Birthplace Appeal to establish a capital fund for the Museum to ensure and safeguard its future. Find out more about The Elgar Birthplace Appeal and how you can help the Museum by making a donation.

    You could leave a legacy...

What better way to share your enjoyment of Elgar's music and to bring a richly rewarding experience to other people than by remembering the Museum in your Will. Your bequest could support and expand our work in helping many more people to an understanding and enjoyment of the life and work of Edward Elgar. For more information please see our Legacy Giving pages.

You could give relevant items to the collection....

If you have Elgar letters, memorabilia, concert programmes or other items which may be of interest to the Museum, please contact Sue Fairchild, Documentation Officer, to discuss what you have: it could be of considerable interest to scholars and to visitors, and we are committed to making sure that relevant items are collected, conserved and cared for so that future generations can appreciate and enjoy them too.

For more information on how you can help please contact the Museum or use our contact form to email us.

Thank you from all at Elgar Birthplace Museum
