Launch of The Elgar Birthplace Appeal

Launch of The Elgar Birthplace Appeal.

We launched The Elgar Birthplace Museum Appeal at Philip Mould Fine Paintings in London's Dover Street on 23rd November, 2011.

It was a wonderful evening and we were delighted to see so many friends and supporters of the Museum in attendance. Mr Philip Mould welcomed guests to the gallery and speeches were made about the Birthplace by the President of The Elgar Foundation, Sir Mark Elder and the Chairman of The Foundation, Mr Peter Ainsworth.

The evening was made even more special by the first showing of our most recent acquisitions, the Vera Hockman documents and many letters from Elgar to the Worcestershire Baldwyn family. It was also lovely that Ms Hockman's grand daughter and great grand daughter were able to join us for the evening.

The London launch was a wonderful start to what we hope will be a very successful Appeal to raise funds for The Elgar Birthplace Museum to ensure it is here for future generations. The Appeal fund will allow us to continue our work; create a memorable and exciting experience for the thousands of people who visit the Birthplace, and also secure forever the unique collection we hold in trust.
